NIT Puducherry Admission 2026: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Cutoff & Application Form

NIT Puducherry admissions are offered for various specialisation courses at UG, PG, and Doctoral levels. Aspiring candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for the desired course. Before applying for NIT Puducherry admission the candidates should appear for JEE Main/GATE examination. The qualified candidates should attend the counselling procedure to get NIT Pondicherry admissions. 

Candidates who have attended the JEE Main entrance examination and qualified must register for the JoSAA counselling process. Candidates meeting further eligibility criteria can apply for the NIT Puducherry admissions. NIT Puducherry B.Tech Admission Procedure

• The students interested in pursuing B. Tech in NIT Puducherry must fill out and submit the application form for JEE Main.

• After the release of the admit card, the students have to appear for the examination and secure qualifying marks in the same.

• The candidates then have to attend the counselling rounds conducted by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) or under the CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board).

• Candidates have to select NIT Puducherry as their first choice or preference and if the candidate meets the established cut-off of the institute, then he/she will be allotted a seat in the institute.

• The NIT Puducherry admissions are done based on the scores obtained in the JEE Main examination.

• Candidate should appear for the document verification round conducted by the institute and after successful payment of fees, the candidate can begin with the B. Tech programme.

National Institute of Technology Puducherry offers full-time M.Tech courses in different specialisations. The NIT Karaikal admissions are offered in computer science engineering, disaster management, power electronics, communication engineering, and many other branches. The duration of M.Tech courses is 2 years and is divided into 4 semesters.

NIT Puducherry M.Tech Admission Process

• Aspirants should appear for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) and secure valid marks.

• The candidates must fill out and submit the application form.

• The candidate who has cleared the GATE must appear for the CCMT counselling rounds, through which a seat will be allocated to the candidate based on the merit score.

• Aspirants will have to pay the established NIT Puducherry fees of the M. Tech programme after verification of documents and begin with their respective courses.

National Institute of Technology Puducherry offers many Ph.D courses in various specialisations. The duration of the Ph.D courses is 5 years.

• The candidates interested in pursuing Ph.D. in NIT Puducherry must fill out and submit the application form for Ph.D. 

• The department will release the list of shortlisted candidates for the entrance examination.

• After the candidates have cleared the entrance examination, they will appear for the interview round.

• The final selection of candidates for NIT Puducherry admissions will be based on the marks scored in the master's degree, marks scored in the entrance examination and performance in the interview round.

• After the list of selected candidates for Ph.D. courses is uploaded on the website, the candidates have to pay the required fees and submit mandatory documents.

• Photo ID proof as per Govt. of India norms (A copy of Aadhar Card is preferable)

• Certificate of Date of Birth issued by competent authority/Class X (High School) Board Certificate as proof of DOB
