National Institute of Technology Raipur (NITRR) is a public technical university that was founded in 1956 by Dr Rajendra Prasad and later inaugurated in 1963 by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. National Institute of Technology Raipur was formerly known as Government Engineering College Raipur.
NIT Raipur has more than 15 departments, including Applied Geology, Architecture, Bio Medical Engineering, Bio Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Department of Chemistry, Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences and many more. National Institute of Technology Raipur offers courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels.

College Infrastructure
The infrastructure as compared to other NITs is pretty low. There is only one main building and one building for architecture. There are boy hostels only for B.Tech. and limited seats in girls hostel for Masters. The main building has access to everything, including library, labs, etc.
