PTR College of Engineering and Technology is one of the rapidly growing engineering colleges located in Madurai and was started in the year 2001. Sri Meenakshi Government Trust established the college in Thangapandiyan Nagar, AIIMS Road, Austinpatti, Madurai, and the college occupies a vast area of 26.31 acres. PTR College of Engineering and Technology being an affiliated college recognises the guidelines set by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) hence providing standards quality education. The institute offers several engineering programmes for 264 student and has a faculty strength of 46. For this reason, the college has earned the reputation of a technical institution of the area, especially for engineers.

Several amenities are available at PTR College of Engineering and Technology. The college library is adequately stocked with books, information sources with total 6,800 titles and 20,000 volume. It also has subscribed to e-journals, 56 national journals and 56 international journals that make students have adequate facilities to allow them to do research.
