Hooghly Engineering and Technology College Hooghly was established in 2004 offering AICTE UG programmes in the disciplines of engineering. The campus has a sprawling area of 10 acres that is friendly to academic learning. The college has 62 faculty members. The courses offered include B.E./B.Tech, admissions for which are through JEE Main/WBJEE entrance exams.
HETC Hooghly is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata and thus the admissions are based on the merit of candidates in entrance examinations. HETC Hooghly boasts a placement record, with 190 students placed out of 241 graduates in 2022-23. The median salary stands at Rs 4.11 lakh, with top recruiters like IBM, HCL, and Capgemini. 90% of students are admitted based on their merit position in WBJEE, ensuring that the most deserving candidates get admission.
10% of students are admitted through JEE-MAIN, providing an alternative pathway for students who have performed well in the national-level exam.
Diploma holders can enter the second year of the degree course through the JELET admission test, conducted by WBJEEB, providing an opportunity for students with a diploma in engineering/technology to pursue a degree.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the college is accepting provisional bookings for 1st year and lateral seats through online and offline modes, making the admission process more flexible and convenient.

The college is with a clean campus, and green landscape thus making the environment stylish, quiet, and suitable for studying. Apart from the college providing ordinary activities, many sporting facilities are offered.

There are good building decoration and a numerous number of eco friendly dustbin and many other features, like wifi in every building with high speed and connection. Smart board present in every class for good education.
