Recognised in the contemporary world of academic excellence, the Himalayan Institute of Computer Science, Sirmour was instituted in 2007 in the picturesque state of Himachal Pradesh. Affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, this college is situated in Kala-Amb Sirmour district and spread over and area of 2 acres of land providing natural scenic beauty as well as, updated infrastructure facilities. The Himalayan Institute of Computer Science currently has a total enrolment of 60 students with a faculty of, 6 well thought of members.

This is offered at the HICS whereby students get to learn from several facilities aimed at improving students learning and development. The policy of having different hostels for boys and girls makes the standard of the hostels good that is a central feature that makes the campus unique. The Lo privileged boys’ hostel has two sections, junior and senior boys ’hostel; both fully furnished and closely monitored by residential wardens. The girls’ hostel is situated in the campus and the extra safety measures and privacy are provided. For those who like to maintain their lifestyle, fashionably there is a gym with all the necessary equipment.

The institute conducts a total of three full time courses and this clearly shows the concentration area of the institute on computer science and management education. Some of these programmes are; Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). The target group for the BCA programme confirms an intake capacity of 40 students while the PGDM programme has an intake capacity of 60 students.

The admission process in HICS is made to be impartial and exhaustive. For BCA programme the admissions are centralised by the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), and Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU). Also, 15% seats are reserved for management quota wherein students are admitted directly on the campus on merit. The institute, however also takes in to account the scores obtained in the Himachal Pradesh Combined Entrance Test also known as HPCET in order to maintain a standard form of assessment.
