City College of Medical Laboratory Technology was founded in 2004. Situated at Shakthinagar Mangalore, it is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalor offering specialised courses in medical lab sciences. The institute spread across a campus of 3.23 acres total enrolment is 112. At present, the college has a teaching staff of 10 members thus the ratio of student to faculty is manageable. The institution has three full time BSc courses where students are trained in specialty fields of medical technology, to meet the rising need in healthcare institutions.

To support learning and development of its students, City College of Medical Laboratory Technology offers several features to the students. The campus consists of two hostels one for boys and girls; the college has made sure proper stay facilities with 24 hour power and water supply. A library stocked with modern books, journals and every professional body’s publication is available to equip the students well. The college also has functional practical laboratories for practice, vital in offering practical aspect in medical laboratory technology. For extra co-curricular activities, the school campus has available the following sporting facilities, huge playground to accommodate games like cricket, football, volleyball, etc. There is a resource for meetings and seminars-a hall, a cafeteria for snacks, and a clinic where first aid can be provided. At present, CCMLT offers three full-time programmes at degree level. The Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science that takes three years to complete. These courses are normally intended to provide the students with specific training in different aspects of medical technology. The courses are B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology, B.Sc in Medical Imaging Technology, B.Sc in Anaesthesia and Operation Theater Technology.  This style of operation allows the college to continue offering its classes with limited enrolment so as to offer quality education in these specialised areas of medicine.

At City College of Medical Laboratory Technology, admission process is intended to identify qualifying students to its specialised programmes.  Since the programmes offered are specialised, the college could also be looking at students with good background in science subjects especially biology and chemistry.
