Shaheed Captain Ripudaman Singh Government College was established in 1971 as a co-educational institution in Rajasthan. The college was started as another name but later renamed as Shaheed Captain Ripudaman Singh Rajkiya Mahavidyalaya, Sawai Madhopur in 2015. 

Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the college maintains a balanced academic environment with a faculty strength of 59 and a student enrolment of 5,432. 

It offers 17 full-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses across various disciplines. Some of these programmes include BA, B.Sc, B.Com Business Administration, MA History, M.Sc Chemistry and M.Com Accountancy and Business Statistics.
