Agricultural College and Research Institute is one of the major constituent colleges started in the year 1984, situated in Killikulam, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu. It is an information centre that comprises over 15,370 text and reference books, 17 national journals, 948 bound volumes and 251 theses. It also contains e-resources and a video/CD library assisting in the twenty first century techniques of research. The strategic importance of technology to the conduct of its mandate is well captured by the Computer Centre started under the Agricultural Research Information System (ARIS) network. For the students’ health needs, ACRI provides students with the opportunity to use sports facilities and gym, providing access to physical health as well as offering an all-rounded education. The campus also has a medical dispensary with a full-time medical officer and nurses to attend to the students general health.
This institute offers 8 courses in their curriculum for undergraduate as well as postgraduate levels. The undergraduate programme is the B.Sc Agriculture (Hons), while the postgraduate programmes are M.Sc Agronomy, Economics, Entomology, Extension Education, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology and Soil Science. All these courses are full time and the objective of all these courses is to equip the students with intensive knowledge and practical experience in any chosen area of agriculture.
